TTC SERIES - SONDER

“when I painted this back in 2015, I was on the TTC for 2 hours a day (at the very least), so naturally, I had a lot of time to think and observe... and a lot of rides to collect those bus transfers you see that make up the background. In those many hours of public transit adventures I often experienced sonder. Sonder is a profound feeling you get when you realize that everyone around you has a life as vivid and complex as your own. That cleaning lady you see to your left could have saved a life once and you wouldn’t know. Or, that business man to your right might be struggling because he doesn’t have enough time for his family. When you think of all of the memories that you have to share with others, it’s overwhelming to think that the millions of strangers you cross paths with in your lifetime have just as many (if not more) stories and experiences to tell. And, with never ending stories come never ending questions and things to learn! But it also comes to show that you don’t know what the people next to you are going through or have been through. So to that I say, be safe and considerate because everyone around you has a story. "
